National Legal Implications of Lisbon Treaty
Introduction
I am speaking to you today as a solicitor and an MEP. I have been a solicitor since 1973 (a long time) and was first elected to the European Parliament in 1999, having been an MP from 1987 till 1997. In December 2001 I was asked to represent the Conservative Party as a full member of the European Convention on the EU Constitution, which completed its work in the autumn of 2003.
