Timothy Elected Vice-Chairman of Friends of Commonwealth
Strasbourg, 11th March 2008 -- At the Annual general meeting of the European Parliament Friends of the Commonwealth Group, Timothy Kirkhope MEP, was elected as a Vice-Chairman for 2008-2009. The Chairman, Cypriot Ioannis Kasoulides, was also re-elected at the meeting.
Timothy said:
"I am delighted to continue in this prestigious post because friendship between Commonwealth countries who are members of the EU ( UK, Cyprus and Malta) and the other Commonwealth countries of the world is very positive thing. The Friends of the Commonwealth Group is an opportunity to renew and re-invigorate our relationship with old allies."
