At Last Some Good News For Savers, Pensioners And Investors

Commenting on the decision to postpone the consideration of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers directive at the Council of Ministers today, Timothy Kirkhope MEP, Leader of the Conservatives in the European Parliament said:

"I'm pleased that the Council of Ministers have decided to take their time over this directive. We need to be very careful that measures don't harm our economic recovery, and the current draft of the AFIM directive could be very damaging indeed."

"I'm hoping that in June, at the time of the next ECOFIN Council, a new British government will be in place. We need a British government which will not allow itself to be bullied into a compromise which is protectionist and which would harm savers, pensioners and investors in Britain and across the EU."
